Where to Start in Poker

Where to Start in Poker

Unknown to many is that poker is not just one game but a variety of types of one game all coming under the banner of no limit Texas Hold’em. For those just beginning, or those who have been around the game for a while, any of the following may be of assistance; reading some of the poker books; playing a few online poker games; or, most importantly, watching the live events.

  1. Read some of the poker books. Anyone can learn how to play the game; however, not everyone can implement what they have learned. If you have not read any books, start with the newest version and filter out what you do not want to read.
  2. Watch some of the poker events. These events can be television or Internet related. While you watch, you can observe the players and how they react to different situations.
  3. In addition to reading and watching, you can also get your hands on a poker calculator. A poker calculator will sit next to you on your computer and help advise you on the choices you should make. Although, the poker calculators are just programs, they can multiply your winnings by as much as two to four times.
  4. Once you have the calculator, you can make use of it in online poker. Although, you have to press a few buttons in order to connect with the game, but once done, the poker calculator provides you with clear recommendations on what you should do.
  5. While you are learning the game, you can play in small groups. The smaller groups can last between 15 to 20 hands; however, the game is much faster than the larger groups. It is also a good way to minimize your losses.
  6. The size of the group you play within the larger group should be about the size of the tables at the larger table. If you are a beginner, you should play in very small groups and as a beginner, you can go in for groups with more experienced players.
  7. If you do not want to play in a full table, you can play in the knockouts or satellite games. These games enable you to get a quick jump-start if you are in a hurry and do not have the time to wait for the next big game.
  8. After the game is over, you can always ask the invite-only friends for a game, or play on one of the large poker sites.
  9. Poker is a card game. No matter how many tips you get, or how many tricks you use, it will still be the same. The house will always win. However, there are still a lot of bad players. You might have to deal with a couple of these before you become a really good player.
  10. Finally, see a movie. You should be in the zone. When you are in that zone, you are in the zone. When you are irritated or stressed, you are probably dealing with a lot of distractions. When you are playing pokerbo, you want to shut out all the noise. You want to be in the zone. The music is playing, people are talking, food is being tasted. It is time to stay in the zone.

Perfection

  1. Learn from your mistakes. When you make them, learn from them. Do not make the same mistake again. Learn from your mistakes.
  2. Raise your vibration. If you do not feel happy while you are playing, why should you play? Someone who erupts into tears during a poker game is not happy. If you feel yourself overcome with emotion, it is time to get out of the game.
  3. Know when to quit. Most decisions should be made with a clear head. Do not play when you are headed to the dinner table. Surely, you know that you have to wait for the food!

Breaking bad habits is easy. However, most gambling problems are not dishes of pots of gold, but rather they are dishes of chips, which can be washed, GREEN or GOLD.
